The answer is yes.EMC is offering a
separate hardware to reduce the noise. The main hardware which produces noise
in EMC Symmetrix system is the FAN module.EMC is offering a separate hardware
called Symmetrix Silencer which helps to reduce the noise which is produced by
the FAN module. The Symmetrix Silencer is designed with leading edge
sound-reducing materials that attenuate high-frequency noise components and
reduce overall sound levels. It does not affect airflow or thermal performance.
Symmetrix Silencer can be installed
on both storage and system bays. Symmetrix Silencer will fit on top of both
storage and system bays as shown in above picture. It decreases cooling fan
exhaust noise by more than 5.0 dB while maintaining Symmetrix performance standards.
