EMC DMX Architecture Series: DMX 3000

Welcome back everyone. In my architecture series posts, today I am going to explain about EMC DMX 3000 model You can read my previous posts in this series from below linksEMC Vmax Architecture EMC Symmetrix DMX 1000 EMC Symmetrix DMX 2000EMC symmetrix DMX 3000:
As we discussed earlier,The DMX 3000 has 3 bays compared to other DMX 1 models.DMX 1000 has 1 bay,DMX 2000 has 2 bays and DMX 3000 has 3 bays.Similar to DMX 2000,EMC symmetrix DMX 3000 also has 24 slot card cage.

In a fully configured Symmetrix DMX 3000 system, each of the eight director ports on the sixteen directors connects to one of the sixteen memory ports on each of the eight global memory directors. These 128 individual point-to-point connections facilitate up to 128 concurrent global memory operations in the system.Below figure illustrates the point-to-point architecture and the interconnection of the major components of the Symmetrix DMX3000 system.

Now we will check components  one by one Cooling Fan Modules:
EMC Symmetrix DMX 3000 has eighteen fan modules which maintain air circulation and cool the system internally. As I mentioned in the previous DMX 1000 and DMX 2000 post,here also we can fit symmetrix silencer to reduce the noise.
Midplane
The front end and back end modules are interconnecting each other using midplane module. The front twenty-four slots contain global memory directors, disk directors, and channel directors (front-end Fibre Channel, ESCON, FICON, and iSCSI channel directors, and/or GigE Remote directors). The rear slots contain the channel host adapters, GigE Remote adapters, disk adapters, and ECMs and CCMs.
Like other DMX 1 models,On the front side, the eight slots in the center of the midplane are reserved for global memory directors and the remaining 16 slots are reserved for channel directors and disk directors (eight to the left and eight to the right of memory).Below pictures shows the front end and backend  card cage layout.

Rear view of midplane slot:
In the rear of the midplane as shown in below picture, the adapters reside behind their respective directors and the behind 4 memory board slots behind,we have ECM and CCM pairs.
